NCT drive system servo amplifiers do not include a rectifier unit. Instead, a separate power supply module provides them with energy. The DC bus between the power supply and the servo amplifier modules carries rectified current, enabling efficient and reliable power delivery.
Direct mains supply and the modular design simplify electrical planning, creating the mains feed, and later system modification or replacement.
The primary role of NCT power supplies is to provide stable power to servo amplifiers. These systems supply DC voltage on the DC bus output, which is smoothed almost completely by a high-capacity capacitor bank.
Every drive system supports braking operation, when power flows back from the motor to the main power supply.
DPS power supplies do not include a built-in braking resistor, so they generate less heat and do not warm up the electrical cabinet. When using an external braking resistor, an internal unit is not recommended.
In case of frequent braking operation, using a regenerative power supply is recommended, even for low-power drives, to maximize energy efficiency.
